the fordshttp://www.thefordsmusic.com mjsever@yahoo.com The Fords are a refreshing change from the standard rock lineup. From plaintive piano melodies to emotionally charged rock epics, the Fords have created a sound that explores a wide range of influences while remaining cohesive and approachable. Although their music has often been compared to bands such as Five for Fighting and Coldplay, the fords have crafted a style that is all their own. Amanda Ford- piano, vocals With a MFA in composition, Amanda Ford has written several pieces for Pittsburgh dance organizations, as well as for such public television documentaries as the Emmy award-winning “Stephanie”. Amanda has amassed a well of beautiful pop songs over the course of her life, but seldom performed them outside her living room. After years of encouragement from her friends, family and colleagues, she made the plunge and teamed up with several veteran Pittsburgh musicians to form the fords and set out to begin performing her songs in a more public setting. But don’t let her excellent songwriting and stunning voice fool you- she also has serious chops. Frank Postava, drums It was over 12 years ago that Frankie began playing drums in the Pittsburgh area. He started off his musical career in his teens and continued his musical exploration through college playing with the University of Pittsburgh’s African Drum Ensemble. He’s the most universally loved member of the band. Matt Sever- guitars, backing vocals A Pittsburgh 'transplant', Matt has been involved in numerous recording projects across the northeastern United States over the years, exploring a wide range of musical styles ranging from prog to folk. He was formerly a regular performer on New York City's Bleeker Street. Bern Steinbacher- bass, vocals Bern has spent numerous years performing in bands in Pittsburgh for over 10 years. After a little respite to attend Medical School, he got back into the music scene and picked up right where he left off. For the Fords, Bern exchanged his guitar for bass duties and has turned out to be a better bassist than guitarist, but don’t tell him we said that. |
